THE ANCHOR LIGHT BEACH HOUSE is a 4-bedroom, 2-storey holiday house located at Corlette Beach in Port Stephens.

Please note that The Beach House is NOT an apartment; it is NOT a duplex and it is NOT a townhouse.

It is a traditional Port Stephens beach house and it can comfortably accommodate up to eight (8) adults.

Corlette Beach is a 30-minute drive from Newcastle Airport and a 2˝-hour drive north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Casually elegant and very private, The Anchor Light is a 4˝ Star Bed & Breakfast that provides contemporary Australian accommodation at Corlette Beach in the style of a high-end boutique hotel.

The Beach House is in a great location. It takes 1-minute to walk to Corlette Beach, 3-minutes to walk to the exclusive Peppers Anchorage Resort & Marina and about 40-minutes to walk along The Waterfront Path into Nelson Bay.

Corlette Beach is generally considered to be the best sandy beach in Port Stephens and it is ideal for small children.

The reserve that runs behind the beach has BBQ and playground areas at either end. And The Waterfront Path that winds its way through the reserve is a great place for kids to ride their bikes and scooters.

And Corlette Beach is also a great location for adults. While some of our guests just like to sit on the beach all day with a good book others walk along The Waterfront Path into Nelson Bay for lunch.

A facial at the Day Spa at Peppers followed by dinner at the award winning Merretts restaurant is always a favourite.

And the outstanding view over The Anchorage Marina and Corlette Beach is a popular excuse to meet in The Captain's Bar for drinks at sunset.

And Corlette Beach is far enough away from Nelson Bay – the epicentre of tourism and holiday apartments at Port Stephens – to relax but still close to the action.

Our guests can choose whether (or not) to engage with the holiday crowds ... and on their own terms.

The Beach House tariff rents the entire property – house and grounds – and includes bed linen and bath towels.

Please note that the tariff does not include a refundable $300 Security Bond that must be paid at Check In.

Please note that The Beach House is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood and it is not a party house or suitable for Schoolies.

Meals are not provided and the property is not serviced. The Beach House is not suitable for pets and smoking is permitted outside only.

PROPERTY AND IMPROVEMENTS

The Beach House was recently renovated and refurbished and is in excellent condition. It has four (4) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms with a bedding configuration of three (3) Queen and two (2) single beds.

The Upper Floor includes an air-conditioned Kitchen/Dining and Living Room area, two (2) Queen bedrooms and a bedroom with two (2) single beds.

There is also a bathroom with a shower, a separate toilet and a laundry on the Upper Floor.

The Living Room has a new sofa and 68cm TV/DVD, a coffee table and seating for eight (8) guests. And Broadband Wi-Fi internet access is also available.

The Lower Floor includes a large Rumpus Room with four beanbag chairs, kiddie-sized table and chairs, 3-person sofa and a TV/DVD.

There is also one (1) Queen bedroom with ensuite bathroom, including a shower, small bath and toilet, on the Lower Floor.

The backyard is fully fenced with a new 1.2 metre high fence and gates with child-proof locks.

And the undercover patio Entertaining Area has a new six (6) burner gas BBQ and outdoor furniture for eight (8) guests.

Guests are welcome to use the lock-up garage. And additional off-street parking is also available.

The Beach House is in a great location and since purchasing the property in September 2005 we have made a number of improvements that make it a great house to rent including:

* New, high quality mattresses and bases (the same as The Anchor Light which is rated 4˝ STAR).
* New, bed linen, bath towels, pillows, quilts, quilt covers and extra blankets.
* Fully enclosed the backyard with a 1.2 metre high fence and gates with childproof locks.
* Installed a new 400-litre (the largest commercially available) hot water system.
* New Bosch dishwasher.
* New 68 cm flat screen TV/DVD and digital set top box for the Living Room.
* New, quality 3-seater sofa for the Living Room.
* Created a Rumpus Room with 68 cm TV/DVD, 4 beanbags and kiddie sized table and chairs.
* New 6-burner gas BBQ for the backyard patio Entertaining Area.
* Provided broadband Wi-Fi Internet access.
* Installed full-length mirrors in the 3 Queen Rooms.

The Beach House is close to the main shopping centre of Port Stephens at Salamander Bay and it is also a short walk from some great bars and restaurants.

And Corlette Beach is far enough away from Nelson Bay – the epicentre of tourism and holiday apartments at Port Stephens – to relax but still close to the action.

Our guests can choose whether (or not) to engage with the holiday crowds ... and on their own terms.

The nearby Anchorage Marina is a convenient location to hire a bike or rent a dinghy, book a fishing charter or learn to sail.

Dolphin-watch cruises depart regularly from the Marina and whale-watch cruises from May to October. And the sunset dinner cruise is sensational.

We have had a number of guests sail their yachts to Port Stephens and moor them at The Anchorage Marina. The rates are reasonable and include access to the pool, showers and other amenities.

There are also lots of great walks around The Anchor Light and Corlette Beach. Our more energetic guests walk to the end of The Waterfront Path at Fingal Bay and then along the beach to Point Stephens and The Outer Lighthouse.

While others like to start their day with a short walk to the lookout on Corlette Headland. The view north over Corlette Beach and Port Stephens is spectacular.

And the walk along The Anchorage Marina seawall is a popular after dinner walk. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as our guests regularly report seeing dolphins and turtles and Fairy Penguins chasing bait fish in the Marina during the cooler months.

The seawall is also a good place to teach kids to fish and we often see a great tribe of excited kids with their dads and granddads patiently baiting hooks and untangling lines.
